Sharing My Adventure (Pawan Thapa)

I am a graduate student in the Department of Geography and the Environment at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. My research focuses on geographic information science (GIS), remote sensing, machine learning, deep learning analysis, mapping, and modeling rivers for width, centerline, direction, meander classification, and detection to estimate flood, floodplain, erosion, and riparian vegetation.

Previously, I lectured at Kathmandu University, Nepal. Notably, I was the first person from Nepal to earn a Master of Science in Geoinformatics from Muenster University, Germany, in 2017. Awarded Graduate Fellowship & honored with Outstanding Doctoral Research Award 2026.
